6/9/2026 12:00:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State women's tennis head coach Jacob Eddins was announced as the 2026 ITA/Dunlop Central Region Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

Eddins was named head coach of the Shockers on Sept. 15, 2025, and quickly elevated the program to the national stage, producing one of the best overall years in program history in his first season at the helm.

Wichita State reached as high as No. 24 in the ITA rankings during the 2026 spring season and earned an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The team ended the season ranked No. 35 and was rated No. 3 in the ITA Mid-Major Top 25 rankings as well as No. 2 in the ITA Central Region.

Eddins coached three Shockers to all-conference honors, including Xin Tong Wang, who was named the 2026 American Conference Player of the Year. Wichita State was the No. 1 seed at the American Conference Championship for the first time and earned a runner-up finish.

In the fall, Eddins coached Wang and Giorgia Roselli to the 2026 American Conference Doubles Championship and helped guide Roselli to a runner-up finish at the conference singles championship.

Eddins becomes just the second Shocker to be named regional coach of the year, joining Chris Young, who earned the honor in 2007.
