WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State women's tennis will head to Norman, Oklahoma, for ITA Kickoff Weekend in 2027.
 
The Shockers will be the No. 3 seed in the region, hosted by Oklahoma. Wichita State will be joined by No. 1 seed Oklahoma, No. 2 seed Texas Tech and No. 4 seed Long Beach State.
 
Among teams in the American Conference, Wichita State is one of three programs participating in ITA Kickoff Weekend, joining Rice and Charlotte.
 
It will be Wichita State's eighth appearance in ITA Kickoff Weekend and its second consecutive season competing in the event. Last season, the Shockers competed in the 2026 Lubbock Regional and went 0-2 while battling illness throughout the weekend.
 
Overall, Wichita State is 6-7 in ITA Kickoff Weekend matches and has reached the regional final once.
ITA Kickoff Weekend is scheduled for Jan. 22-24, 2027, at various facilities across the country. Each region champion advances to the ITA Indoor National Championship.
 
Wichita State will take on Texas Tech on Friday, Jan. 22, at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. The winner of that match will advance to face the winner of Oklahoma and Long Beach State on Saturday.
