WICHITA, Kan. -- The Wichita State baseball team has earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2021-2022 academic year.
 
The award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year. It's the fifth straight year the Shockers have earned the honor.
 
WSU tallied a 3.506 cumulative GPA in 2021-2022, posting a GPA better than 3.50 in both the fall and spring semesters.
 
The Shockers were one of six American Athletic Conference programs to earn the award, joining ECU, Cincinnati, Tulane, Memphis and USF.
