Wichita State's 2022-23 men's basketball roster is complete with the signing of Northwest Florida State transfer Shammah Scott (pronounced Sham-MAW).
Â
The 6-foot-2 point guard from Cleveland, Ohio will be a sophomore this fall with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Â
"With this last scholarship, we were looking for another shooter or playmaker. Shammah is both of those things," WSU head coach
Isaac Brown said. "He's a big point guard who knows how to run a team, and he can really stroke it. We're excited to have him."
Â
Last March, Scott helped Northwest Florida to an NJCAA national championship while playing for former Shocker assistant Greg Heiar. In 33 games, he averaged 6.8 points, made 29 threes on 47.5 percent accuracy and sported a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Â
Scott was a winner at the high school level as well. As a senior, he averaged 14.4 points and 2.1 steals for a Shaker Heights team that advanced to the Ohio state quarterfinals before COVID-19 put a stop to postseason play.
Â
Scott's addition gives WSU 13 scholarship players and boosts the total roster size to 17.
