LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Wichita State track and field team recorded 15 top-three finishes on a windy Saturday at the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence, Kansas.

Faith Turner led the way for the Shockers with a blazing fast 100-meter time of 11:63 to win the event and jump up to sixth all-time in Wichita State history.

"We've known that Faith was capable of running a really good 100-meter dash for a long time, but we haven't had great conditions for a time like today to happen," sprints/hurdles coach John Wise said, "and even though she ran really well, we think she's got a lot more left in the tank and are excited for what she can do in a couple weeks in the conference championship."

Turner also led off the winning 4x100-meter relay that ran 46:03, handing off to Paula Garcia, with Sydney Johnson and Brianna Utecht rounding out the team. Garcia went on to place second in the open 200 meters with a time of 24.31.

In the field events, Samantha Marx earned her fifth top-five javelin finish of the season in windy conditions, throwing 41.07m/134-9 to place second, and Semaj McGhee added a second-place finish of her own with her sixth-attempt jump of 11.77m/38-7.75. Karen Lyvers made the best of the tricky conditions in a pole vault competition where almost half of the athletes no-heighted, clearing two personal-best bars to etch her name on the Shocker all-time list at No. 9 (3.81m/12-6).

In the final event of the night, Lubna Aldulaimi ran a 17:35.41 in her second 5,000-meter race of the season to place second.

On the men's side, Davis Dubbert (62.09m/203-8) and Cauy Lindsay (52.91m/173-7) led things off for the Shockers with a 3-4 finish in the javelin. Dubbert's day continued over at the high jump pit where he placed second with a clearance of 2.05m/6-8.75 behind fellow Shocker Brady Palen (2.10m/6-10.75).

Over in the hammer ring, Michael Bryan's farthest throw landed out at 68.77m/225-7, giving him the second-place finish. Bryan has now placed top three in every outdoor meet this season, with four of those being wins.

Three Shocker men placed third in their individual track events with RJ Hutchison leading things off with a 49.77 in the 400 meters. Yuben Goncalves followed that up with a season-best 52.88 in the 400-meter hurdles, and Joakim Genereux ran a 21.49 in his second 200-meter race of the season.

The men's A-team 4x400-meter relay squad of Joakim Genereux, JD Prinsloo, RJ Hutchison and Ke'Adre Thompson placed third with their fastest time of the season (3:17.28), and Jackson Caldwell wrapped up the meet with a second-place finish in his outdoor 5,000-meter debut.
