Shockers Wrap Up Two-Meet Weekend

EUGENE, Ore./WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State track and field team split up to compete at the Hayward Premiere in Eugene, Oregon and the Friends Spring Open in Wichita on Friday and Saturday.
 
Hayward Premiere
 
Adam Moore led the Shockers on day one of the Hayward Premiere with a 1500-meter victory in the invite section with a time of 3:44.93. In the hammer throw, Michael Bryan threw a season-best 70.32m/230-8 to place third and move up to fifth in the national rankings. Taran Taylor launched his javelin 69.03m/226-6, the second-best throw of the night, and entered the top 20 in the nation. Margaux Thompson and Adria Navajon Fabregat both placed third in their respective events, with Thompson clearing 3.70m/12-1.5 in the pole vault and Navajon Fabregrat leaping 7.15m/23-5.5 in the long jump.
 
On day two, Jaleel Montgomery ran a season-best 10.64 in the 100 meters to take second. Faith Turner also recorded a season-best mark in the triple jump (12.16m/39-10.75) to earn a second-place finish. In the high jump, Brady Palen cleared 2.05m/6-8.75 for the second-straight meet to earn the third spot.
 
Friends Spring Open
 
Alli Burke claimed her first collegiate win in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 3.55m/11-7.75 with Karen Lyvers and Alyssa Wheeler tying for second with success at 3.40m/11'1.75. Kylie Meier also picked up a win, running 1:06.36 in the 400-meter hurdles. Anna Heacock finished was right there with her to take second with a time of 1:06.39. Heacock also took third in the 100-meter hurdles, running a 14.79. In the 1500 meters, Jenna Muma and Miranda Dick took second and third, respectively, and Madelynn Luster claimed the second spot in the discus. Dowdy Elazarig jumped 7.20m/23-7.5 for a second-place finish in the men's long jump, and Nerea Quiros took third in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.64m/18-6.
 
The Shockers return home for the KT Woodman meet at Cessna Stadium April 6-9.
