COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Wichita State men's golf team returns to Columbia for the MU Tiger Invitational in the final tune-up before the American Athletic Conference Championship. Play at The Club at Old Hawthorne begins on Monday, April 11 with an 8:00 am CT shotgun start and concludes the following day at the same time.
It's the second trip in two years to Columbia for the Shockers, who tied for fourth in last season's Tiger Invitational.
Brock Polhill had a career-best performance, notching his first top-five finish thanks to an opening round 66 and three eagles.
Dawson Lewis also appeared for the Shockers last season in Columbia, shooting 12-over 228 to tie for 55th. Host Missouri won the tournament by seven strokes over second place Kansas State.
The Shockers aim to bounce back from a challenging trip to the Seattle area this past week, where weather wreaked havoc with the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay, completing erasing a whole day of play and turning the event into just an 18-hole competition. Wichita State ( finished 16th in a 23-team field, with all 23 participants ending up over par. The Shockers were originally in a tie for third when play was canceled on Monday and all scores were forfeited.
Head Coach
Judd Easterling will deploy a lineup of Lewis,
Joe Bultman, Polhill,
Michael Winslow and
Lucas Scheufler. It's the same five the Shockers rolled out at the Redhawk Invitational, with both Bultman and Polhill and Winslow and Scheufler swapping spots in the lineup.
