PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Wichita State men's golf team rolled to comfortable 5.5-0.5 win over Air Force to conclude play at 2022 Wyoming Desert Match Play on Saturday. The Shockers finished the competition in seventh place in their first action of the spring campaign.

Tate Herrenbruck rallied on 18 to salvage a tie with Christopher Park.

The Shockers dropped a pair of closely contested decisions on Friday against Boise State and Colorado. In the opening round against Boise State, #3Â Balatka and #5Â Polhill snagged solo victories against Skyler Eubank and Alex Talbot, but the Broncos Nick Hedman was able to fend off a late charge from Herrenbruck to seal a 4-2 win.

In a matchup with third-seeded Colorado in the consolation bracket, #6
Dawson Lewis blasted Jack Holland 7&5, racing out to a six-point lead over the front nine, and #5 Polhill turned a tie after 10 holes into a 3&2 victory. #1 Scheufler trailed Justin Biwer by four with only six holes to play, but roared back to earn a tie. #4 Herrenbruck was neck-and-neck with counterpart John Paterson through 15 holes, but the Buffaloes junior snuck away with the win to nail down a 3.5-2.5 Colorado victory.
Polhill finished the competition with a spotless 3-0 record to pace the Shockers, while Balataka and Lewis went 2-1. Scheufler snagged a win and a tie, and Winslow also picked up a win in his first collegiate action.Â
