Minarik Set for ITA Fall Nationals

11/1/2022 3:50:00 PM

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Kristof Minarik is set to face the top singles players of the fall from all 12 regions this week at the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, California.

The singles round of 32 begins Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Barnes Tennis Center, where Minarik will go head-to-head with California's Ryder Jackson at 2 p.m. CT/noon PT on the Cracked Rackets Live Stream.

Minarik is one of 32 singles players to qualify for this tournament after he made a run to the singles championships at the ITA Central Regional. He has recorded a 7-3 singles record this fall after earning ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year last season as a freshman.

He is the first Shocker since 1984 to qualify for this tournament.

His Golden Bear opponent is coming off a runner-up singles finish at ITA Northwest Region Championship, losing to the top seed, Nishesh Basavareddy of Stanford.

A Wednesday win would send Minarik to Thursday's round of 16, where he would face either Harvard's Harris Walker or the No. 4 seed Eliot Spizzirri of Texas.
