SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Kristof Minarik is set to face the top singles players of the fall from all 12 regions this week at the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, California.
Â
The singles round of 32 begins Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Barnes Tennis Center, where Minarik will go head-to-head with California's Ryder Jackson at 2 p.m. CT/noon PT on the
Cracked Rackets Live Stream.
Â
Minarik is one of 32 singles players to qualify for this tournament after he made a run to the singles championships at the ITA Central Regional. He has recorded a 7-3 singles record this fall after earning ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year last season as a freshman.
Â
He is the first Shocker since 1984 to qualify for this tournament.
Â
His Golden Bear opponent is coming off a runner-up singles finish at ITA Northwest Region Championship, losing to the top seed, Nishesh Basavareddy of Stanford.
Â
A Wednesday win would send Minarik to Thursday's round of 16, where he would face either Harvard's Harris Walker or the No. 4 seed Eliot Spizzirri of Texas.
