A New Season Begins
• Wichita State men's tennis is in its fourth season under head coach Darragh Glavin.
• The Shockers went 12–13 last season, their best record and highest win total under Glavin.
• Wichita State had a preseason team Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 74.43, which ranked as No. 66 in the NCAA.
• WSU's team UTR is the fifth-highest in the American Conference.
• The Shockers are 4-6 on the season with wins over New Mexico State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, and UTSA.
Sunday Recap
• Wichita State crushed American Conference foe UTSA on Sunday, 6-1, in the Shockers' home opener.
• The Shockers took doubles swiftly, with Pablo Roche Alcaya and Zaid Al Mashni winning 6-1 at No. 1 and Ilias Worthington and Rodrigo Cruz winning 6-2 at No. 3.
• In singles, the Shockers kept momentum by winning four of six first sets.
• Al Mashni, Alcaya, Cruz, Alejandro Jacome, and Luke Bracks all earned singles wins to reach the final 6-1 margin.
• Alcaya's 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win at No. 4 served as the clinching win for the Shockers.
Fall Notes
• The Shockers earned 12 singles wins and five doubles wins in limited fall action.
• Alejandro Jacome led the Shockers in the fall with four singles wins, including three at the American Conference Singles Championship.
• Worthington led the team in doubles wins with three.
• Jacome reached the semifinals of the American Conference Singles Championship and the doubles championship with Worthington.
• Al Mashni ended the fall ranked No. 66 by the ITA in singles
Last Year's Leaders
• Worthington led the Shockers in singles wins with 13, with Jacome close behind at 11.
• Jacome and Worthington tied for the team lead in doubles wins with 11 among returning Shockers.
Returners to the Lineup
• Five Shockers return for another season in Wichita in 2026.
• The five returners combined for 39 of the team's 65 dual-match singles wins last season.
• Three of the top five Shockers in singles wins—Jacome, Worthington, and Amir Milushev—are back with Wichita State.
Newcomers
• The Shockers have four new players for the 2025–26 season, with three arriving for the spring semester.
• All four—Alcaya, Cruz, Felix Bockelmann-Evans, and James Lammas—arrived in Wichita as true freshmen.
Additional Notes
• Wichita State is 25-37 against non-conference opponents in the Glavin era.
• The Shockers are 7-22 playing non-conference opponents on the road under Glavin.
• Last season, the Shockers were 5-8 in road matches and are 1-4 so far this season.
• Wichita State was 2-4 last year when playing teams located west of Kansas and is 1-4 this year.

Scouting Boise State
• Boise State is in its fourth year under head coach Luke Shields.
• Shields has guided the Broncos to three straight NCAA Team appearances, two Mountain West regular-season and tournament championships, and a 67-27 overall record.
• The Broncos are 5-2 on the year and have a 4-1 record at home.
• Boise State has won its last five matches entering Friday.
Series History vs. Boise State
• Wichita State is winless in the all-time series with Boise State, losing all four contests.
• This meeting will be the third between the teams in Boise.
• In last season's matchup, Boise State narrowly escaped Wichita with a 4-3 win.
• Three of the four matchups have been very close, with two of the results being 4-3 decisions.
Scouting Denver
• Drew Eberly is in his fifth season as head coach of the Pioneers.
• Eberly has led Denver to great success, winning back-to-back Summit League tournaments and five consecutive regular-season titles.
• Denver is a perfect 4-0 in 2026, beating Texas Tech, Montana State, Utah, and Montana.
• All four of Denver's matches have been played in Denver.
• The Pioneers went 18-7 in 2025 but were just 1-3 at neutral sites.
Series History vs. Denver
• Wichita State leads the all-time series with Denver 12-5.
• The Shockers have won four of the last five meetings with the Pioneers.
• The teams have met three times at neutral sites, with the Shockers winning two of the three matchups.
• Wichita State and Denver have not played at a neutral site since 2000.
