MANHATTAN, Kan. - Louisa Brunt and
Kenni Henson both captured top-20 finishes at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational after play concluded Tuesday at Colbert Hills.
Brunt posted a 1-under (71) in the final round to move up the leaderboard and into a tie for 15th. She now adds a top 15 finish to her Shocker resume after placing 3rd in Springfield last week.
Henson tied for 19th with total score of 225 (+9) - a new career low. Henson started the tournament by carding a first round score of 74, while finishing with a 75 and a 76 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Megan Lucas saved her best round of golf for the final round, turning in a 5-over, 77. Lucas ended the tournament in a tie for 46th.
Chiara Arya made her season debut and tied for 53rd at 244 (81-80-83). Just three strokes behind Arya was
Sarah Lawson in a tie for 55th (83-79-85 -- 247).
Wichita State heads to Columbia, Mo., next week for the Johnie Imes Invitational, Sept. 27-29.
