WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State women's tennis continues its road trek when they head back down to Texas from March 5-7 to face SMU, UT Arlington, and North Texas.
Shocker Notables
- The senior duo of Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva came in at No. 23 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. This is their fourth straight appearance in the rankings and highest appearance yet. They are currently 8-3 on the season and have won three-straight, including a win over the Sun Devil's No. 50 Ilze Hattingh/Lauryn John-Baptiste.
- Freshman Jessie Zheng leads the Shockers in singles wins with a 6-4 record at No. 4 and 5.
Scouting the Competition
SMU (5-6)
- The Mustangs beat North Texas last time out, 6-1.
- Sophomore Hadley Doyle leads the team in singles wins with 5. They have come at No. 1, 2, and 3.
- SMU has one ranked pair, No. 52 Jackie Nylander and Chandler Carter, that are 3-4 on the year.
UT Arlington (5-0)
- The Mavericks last played Arkansas State and beat them, 4-0. They have only lost two points all year, both the Central Oklahoma, yet they have not faced anyone substantial.
UNT (2-5)
- The Mean Green played SMU last time out and lost, 6-1.
- They lost three matches to elite Texas teams, No. 3 Texas, No. 17 Baylor, and TCU.
