TUCSON, Ariz. – The United States Air Force Academy Falcons used a six-run fifth inning to turn a 3-2 deficit into an 8-3 lead and never looked back, defeating the Wichita State University baseball team, 12-3, Saturday, March 13, at Hi Corbett Field.

Wichita State (7-5) is scheduled to travel to DeLand, Fla., to take on FIU and Stetson March 19-21.

Josh Hansell (1-1) suffered the setback on the mound after giving up five earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and four walks in 2 2/3 innings of work.

Braydon Altorfer had three hits in five at bats, including a homer and double, and collected three RBI, and Paul Skenes added a pair of hits, including a home run, and batted in three, pacing the Falcons (5-5).

Air Force reliever CJ Dornak (1-0) earned the victory after surrendering two earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and zero walks in four innings, while Doyle Gehring secured his first save of 2021 after throwing three scoreless innings in relief with four Ks and one walk.
