Dawson Lewis continued his recent strong play with a top-25 finish as the Wichita State men's golf team finished 10th at the Paintbrush Invitational at Colorado Golf Club.
It was the third of three straight Colorado tournaments for the Shockers.

Lewis (76-71-79—226, +10) delivered the second-best individual round score of the tournament for Wichita State with his second round 71, a stretch that included four birdies. He finished with seven birdies over the course of the two days in Parker, wrapping up play in a tie for 22nd.

The Shockers (300-299-323—922, +58) were in the upper third of the 11-team field through the first two rounds, but lost ground on Tuesday as 10 of the 11 competing schools shot 300 or worse on the final day.

Lucas Scheufler (78-74-80—232, +16) snagged a tie for 48th, highlighted by a strong second round in which he was two-under with two holes to play.

Brock Polhill (69-80-86—235, +19) had an excellent start to the invitational, sitting in a tie atop the leaderboard through 18 after a four-birdie opening round 69. Polhill bogeyed the first hole of the day on Monday and then shot par or better on each of the succeeding 17 holes.Â

Adam Balatka (77-75-84—236, +20) and
Tate Herrenbruck (87-79-80—246, +30) finished in a tie for 60th and 76th, respectively. Balatka led the Shockers by carding nine birdies in total.

Colorado State walked away with both the team and individual titles, shooting +16 on the final day to fend off host Denver and Northern Colorado by six strokes. Davis Bryant (69-68-76—213, -3) took home the individual title for the Rams.
The Shockers are off next week before their final tournament of the fall in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 18-19.
