WICHITA, Kan. – Behind 5.2 solid innings from
Adam Ketelsen and a pair of crooked number innings, the Black Team salvaged the final game of the Fall World Series with a 5-4 win over the Yellow Team on Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Yellow ultimately wins the Fall World Series, three games to two.
Black scored in three of the first four innings to give Ketelsen support. A pair of RBI groundouts from
Janson Reeder and
Couper Cornblum got the scoring started, then
Will Stark raced home on a swinging third strike that forced a throw to first base.Â
Yellow pulled even in the top of the fourth on a solo home run from
Payton Tolle and a Jackson Young run-scoring groundout, but Black had a quick answer in the bottom of the frame.
Brock Rodden drove home the go-ahead run with a groundout to first, and
Garrett Kocis followed by dumping a two-out RBI single into center that made it 5-3.
In the top of the seventh, an error trimmed the lead to 5-4 and put the tying run at third base with one out. Black Team reliever
Ty Howry got
Chuck Ingram to bounce into a 5-4-3 double play to end the game.Â
Kocis led the way for Black with a pair of hits, while Yellow's
Andrew Stewart notched two knocks of his own. Yellow starter
Will Stevens took the loss despite striking out seven over 4.2 innings of work.
