WICHITA—The Wichita State track and field team earned a total of 10 academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross County Coaches Association, the organization announced Thursday.
Both the men's and women's team were honored as All-Academic teams by the USTFCCCA. The men's team earned a 3.34 GPA over the 2019-20 academic year and the women's team earned a 3.44 to claim the award.
The Shockers also had eight individuals earn All-Academic awards for their performance in the classroom. Three Shocker men and five Shocker women added the accolade to their resume Thursday.
On the men's side, conference champion
Mason Buckmaster and all-conference athletes
Joseph Holthusen and
Weston Lewis claimed academic honors.
For the women's squad, All-Americans
Rebekah Topham and
Winny Koskei, conference champion
Kendra Henry, and all-conference athletes
Claudia Rojo and
Sydney Wilson were honored as All-Academic athletes.
In order to qualify for the awards, teams must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and individuals must obtain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have been at their institution for at least two semesters. Individuals also were required to finish the indoor season with a top-96 ranking in an individual event or top-48 ranking in any relay event.
