This schedule addition boosts Wichita State to 25 regular season games. The NCAA is allowing up to 27 this year.Â

The Shockers missed out on three games last month when they withdrew from the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls.

Emporia State is out to a 3-0 start but has not seen action since Nov. 28 due to cancelations of its own. The Hornets are already at the NCAA Division II maximum of 22 games but will treat Friday's contest as an exhibition.

This will be Wichita State's third regular season meeting with Emporia State in the past eight seasons.

The teams last played on Nov. 19, 2015 in Wichita. Fred VanVleet rested an injured hamstring, but fellow senior Ron Baker stepped up with a game-high 23 points to key a 76-54 Shocker win.Â

The Shockers opened their unbeaten 2013-14 regular season with a 93-50 win over the Hornets at Charles Koch Arena.

The schools played seven exhibitions over a 10-year span from 2002-11. Prior to that, they clashed 68 times between 1907 and 1954.
