WICHITA, Kan. – The Black Team exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning, lifting it to an 8-4 victory over the Yellow Team in the fifth and final game of the Wichita State Black and Yellow Fall World Series at a windy Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field, Saturday, Oct. 17.
Black, which had already clinched the series title with three wins, finished the series at 4-1 overall.
Seth Stroh went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while
Jack Sigrist added a 3-for-4 performance with a double and pair of runs driven in, leading Black at the plate. Noah Greise and
Cade Clemons also compiled two RBIs in the contest for Black, respectively.
Right-hander
Liam Eddy (1-0) secured the victory on the mound after throwing five innings and giving up three earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and a walk on 76 pitches.
Couper Cornblum had three hits in four at bats, including a double, while driving in two runs, and
Garrett Kocis hit his third homer of the series -- the most for both teams -- pacing Yellow.
Cooper Elliot and
Derek Shaver each had two hits in the contest, respectively.
Konnor Lewis (0-1) suffered the loss after surrendering seven earned runs on seven hits with two Ks and two walks in 3 2/3 innings.
Wichita State concludes its 2020 Fall Season with Saturday's game. Information regarding the spring, 2021, campaign will be announced at a later date.
