Wilber
Wichita State assistant coach
Collin Wilber joins the podcast to talk catchers and how the importance of coaching the position is growing. We talk about the use of video to improve skills and why it can be so important to help pitchers by turning borderline pitches into strikes.
There are four catchers on the Shocker roster. Wilber breaks down their performances in the fall and tells us how a call for bullpen catchers produced four candidates from the student body, one who made a great early impression on coaches.
We also discuss his time working as a pipe-fitter, contemplating working in the ship-building industry, and how he changed paths into coaching.Â
Wilber comes to Wichita State from Sonoma State University, an NCAA Division II school in California. He also coached at Sacramento City College in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
Wilber played collegiately at Christopher Newport University and The Apprentice School.
