WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State head baseball coach Brian Green announced the addition of Brian Commerford and Jaden Gustafson to his staff Thursday afternoon.

Commerford comes aboard as the assistant director of sports performance, while Gustafson remains in the program as a graduate assistant.

Commerford makes the move to Wichita State after spending the previous eight years as the director of strength and conditioning at Inspiration Academy in Bradenton, Fla. During his tenure at Inspiration Academy, Commerford helped produce two MLB draft picks, while sending more than 150 athletes to college in baseball, tennis and softball.

He received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a minor in education from Hendrix College in 2016. Commerford was a member of the baseball team at Hendrix. After graduation, he obtained his master's degree in strength and conditioning studies from Arkansas Tech. While at Arkansas Tech he was a strength and conditioning intern where he served as the head strength coach for baseball, cheer and dance.

Just a few months removed from his playing career at Wichita State, Gustafson moves into a staff position with the Shockers. The Wichita native played all four years at Wichita State, appearing in nearly 200 career games. As a senior, he hit .298 with career highs in at bats (215), runs (61), hits (64), home runs (7), RBIs (41), walks (35) and slugging percentage (.456).

Gustafson concluded his career hitting .296 with 178 hits, 34 doubles, seven triples, 10 home runs and 100 RBIs.
