WICHITA, Kan. – The Black Team rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Yellow Team, 3-2, in a Wichita State Black and Yellow Scrimmage Friday, Oct. 16, at Charles Koch Arena. The set scores were 22-25, 18-25, 25-21, 28-26 and 15-10.
Freshman
Marriah Buss tallied a match-best 15 kills, while fellow freshman
Morgan Weber posted her third consecutive double-double with 12 kills and a team-high 14 digs, leading Black.
Senior
McKayla Wuensch added a team-high 22 assists and two service aces, and fellow senior
Emma Wright chipped in nine blocks (one block solo, eight block assists), respectively.
Three different players on Yellow had double-doubles, led by redshirt junior
Megan Taflinger with 14 kills and 16 digs and freshman
Lauren McMahon with 12 kills and a match-high 12 blocks (one block solo, 11 blocks assists).
Sophomore
Kayce Litzau had a match-best 23 assists to go along with 16 digs, and redshirt sophomore
Brylee Kelly posted 14 kills.
Yellow posted narrow advantages in both total blocks (13-12) and attacking percentage (.183-.173), while Black bested Yellow in kills (63-61), assists (57-52) and digs (75-72).
