SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Aaron True and Rebekah Topham each recorded top-12 finishes to punch their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Friday night at Hornet Stadium.
 
2018 All-American Aaron True is headed back to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for a second consecutive season. True finished third in the West Regional javelin competition with a throw of 71.03m/233-11. The Leroy, Kan., native recorded his competition best throw on his first attempt, followed by a foul on his second attempt and on his third attempt he recorded a mark of 69.28m/227-3.
 
True finished eighth at the 2018 NCAA Championships earning First Team All-America honors. He will be competing Wednesday, June 5 at 6:45 p.m. CT.
 
Rebekah Topham punched her ticket to Austin with a top-12 finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:53.92, bettering her previous school record. Topham jumped out to a quick start with her first splits being 44.05, 1:18.68, 1:18.26 and 1:19.05, before running her next three splits over 1:20. The redshirt junior turned on the burners and ran her last split in 1:11.87 to finish fifth in the first heat.
 
Topham's time qualified as one of the next 3 best times outside of the top-3 finishers from each heat.
 
The Griswold, Iowa, native will be making her first NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance on Thursday, June 6 at 7:32 p.m. CT in the 3000m steeplechase semifinals.
 
Cory Martens also recorded a top-20 finish placing 18th in men's discus with a toss of 54.49m/178-9, Martens had entered the meet ranked No. 32 in the West Region.
