GREENVILLE, S.C. - Wichita State collected its lowest 54-hole score of the season with an 859 last time out, and will now compete in the Furman Intercollegiate this weekend.

This will be the third consecutive appearance in the Furman Intercollegiate for the Shockers, having placed 11th in the previous two seasons. Conrad Walcher finished in a tie for 22nd, while Gage Ihrig and Adrien Michellod were three strokes back and tied for 32nd at last year's event.

The Shockers finished the GCU Invitational last weekend in 10th place, with Yannik Emmert highlighting the tournament by claiming his seventh top 10 finish of the season. Emmert set a new season low for a 54-hole score while obtaining a new season-low for an 18-hole score in the first round with a 67. For the second time in his career , the senior finished with two under 70 scores, with the last outing being at the Pro Compression Invitational in 2017.

Head coach Grier Jones has elected to go with the same scorecard lineup as the GCU Invitational. Palmer Hays is coming off his best career finish, tying for 37th. Shooting a 216, Hays set a new career low 54-hole score in addition to beating his previous season-low for a 36-hole score by 10 strokes.

Zac Owens shot an even-par in the third round of the GCU Invitational to tally a total of 218, climbing his way back up to a tie for 54th. Brock Polhill and Dawson Lewis finished last weekend's tournament tied for 75th.

Friday will mark the eighth consecutive tournament that Lewis competes in, the most by a freshman since the 2011-12 season. The last freshman to compete in eight or more tournaments for the Shockers was Louis Cohen Boyer, who assisted in all 13 events during his first season to help Wichita State to the Missouri Valley Title and another NCAA Regional appearance.

In addition to host institution Furman, Wichita State will also get its first look at conference foe Cincinnati. The Bearcats are coming off a fifth place finish at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, claiming their sixth top 10 finish as a team this season.

Other schools competing include Akron, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Dartmouth, Davidson, Francis Marion, Georgia State, High Point, Marshall, Minnesota, Presbyterian, Samford, USC Aiken, USC Upstate, Virginia Tech, Winthrop, Wofford and Yale. Wichita State is 2-0 against the tournament field, having won the head-to-head matchup against Davidson in the fall season and Samford at the GCU Invitational.

North Florida won the event last season with an 847 team score. Furman University Golf Course is a par-71, 6,994-yard course. In 1967, four-time winner of The Masters Arnold Palmer, played an 18-hole exhibition match with local golfers.
