The Wichita State University baseball team will travel to Springfield, Mo., for a fall exhibition game against the Missouri State Bears Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. at Hammons Field. The game is scheduled for 12 innings.

The Shockers fell to Nebraska, 10-8, in their first fall exhibition contest Sept 21 at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field. Junior outfielder
Hunter Gibson went 3-for-6 with an RBI, while sophomore outfielder
David VanVooren homered, leading WSU in the contest.

The Bears are coming off a 15-0 shutout win over Drury Sept. 21 in Ozark, Mo.

WSU and Missouri State have a long and storied history on the diamond, meeting 109 times since the inaugural meeting in 1987. The Shockers lead the all-time series, 63-46, and defeated the Bears, 9-4 in 10 innings, last season at Hammons Field.

Jacob Katzfey and infielder
Alex Jackson, and senior pitchers
Preston Snavely and
Tommy Barnhouse.

Last season, the Bears compiled a 20-36 overall record. Â

Saturday's game will mark the final fall exhibition contest before the annual Black and Yellow Fall World Series, which is scheduled for Oct. 12 (1 p.m.), 14 (1 p.m.), 15 (1 p.m.), 18 (2 p.m.) and 19 (2 p.m.) at Eck Stadium. Each Fall World Series contest is scheduled for seven innings.
