VALENTINE, Neb. - The Wichita State men's golf team wrapped up the first round of The Jackrabbit on Sunday, with the Shockers sitting in ninth place after the first 18 holes. Four Shocker golfers are currently in the top 40 individually.

Senior Adrien Michellod, sophomore Zac Owens and sophomore Palmer Hays are tied for 32nd with a score of 75 each after day one. Hays, who is competing in his first tournament in the 2018-19 season, is on track to come up with his highest career finish. His best placement came at last year's Joe Feaganes Invitational, where he tied for 66th.

Senior Yannik Emmert sits only one stroke behind his teammates, finishing the first day tied for 37th. Freshman Dawson Lewis is tied for 67th, compiling an individually score of 83.

American Athletic Conference opponent UCF leads Kansas by one stroke after the first 18 holes, with Missouri only seven strokes back after finishing the first round with a combined 288 score. Wichita State currently has a team score of 301.
