Tennis Teams Earn ITA Academic Honors

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State men's and women's tennis teams were each honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their academic success during the 2017-18 school year.
 
Marius Frosa and Eddie Stoica were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, as was Haru Inoue for the second-straight season. On the women's side, Marta Bellucco, Gabriela Porubin, Ting-Ya Hsu, Sandra Honigova and Alexandra Lazarova were also named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
 
In addition, both the men's and women's programs were named ITA All-Academic Teams.
 
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
 
To qualify for ITA All-Academic Team status, teams were required to carry a combined GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) during the 2017 Fall and 2018 Spring semesters. Only scores from varsity letter-winners were considered.
