Jenista Drafted in Second Round by Braves

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State baseball student-athlete Greyson Jenista was selected in the second round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Jenista, a junior first baseman and outfielder from Eudora, Kan., was drafted by the Atlanta Braves and was the 49th pick of the 2018 draft.

In 2018, he hit .309 with 54 runs, 63 hits, seven doubles, nine home runs, 38 RBI, 50 walks and 12 stolen bases.
   
He finished the season with 19 multiple-hit games and 11 multiple-RBI games. Last summer, he earned MVP honors in the Cape Cod League.

During his career, he earned second team all-conference honors twice and was the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Co-Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American.

Jenista and teammate Alec Bohm (3rd pick) are just the third Shocker duo to be taken in the first 50 picks of the draft. Bryan Oelkers (4th pick) and Phil Stephenson (30th pick) were both taken in the 1982 draft and Erik Sonberg (18th pick) and Russ Morman (28th pick) were both taken in the 1983 draft.
