Des Moines, Iowa – Winny Koskei ran the sixth fastest time in Shocker history finishing third overall in the women's 5000m seeded race Thursday at the Drake Relays.
Koskei ran a personal best time of 16:30.16 to finish third overall in the 5000m seeded race Thursday night. Her time is sixth fastest in school history surpassing former Shocker Sydney Hirsch time of 16:40.72. She now ranks No. 2 in The American Athletic Conference behind Hannah Miller of SMU.
Nathan Wickoren finished eighth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:18.09.
Gage Garcia led the Shocks finishing 14th overall in the unseeded 5000m with a time of 14:45.72 and
Pedro Montoya ran 15:20.79 to finish 24th overall.
Competing unattached,
Rebekah Topham finished second overall in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:15.75.
Day two of the Drake Relays continues tomorrow, the Shockers 4x1600m relay team of
Ben Flowers,
Cory Landon,
Stan Skwarlo, III and
Austin Sturdy runs at 11:40 a.m. In the night cap,
Zack Penrod competes in the men's seeded 1500m at 7:07 p.m., followed by the men's 4x800m relay team of
Connor Stine, Landon, Sturdy and Flowers running at 8:22 p.m.
