HOUSTON, Texas – Houston walked off with a 6-5 win over No. 24 Wichita State in game two of the three-game series.
Luke Ritter went 2-for-4 with a RBI, while
Dayton Dugas went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a home run.
Starter
Liam Eddy went two innings and gave up four runs on six hits with two walks and one strikeout. Reliever
Keylan Killgore threw three shutout innings and allowed just two hits.
Grayson Padgett and Cooper Coldiron led off the second with singles and they advanced to second and third on a sacrifice bunt. Tucker Redden's sacrifice fly scored Padgett and Lael Lockhart's two-out single scored Coldiron for a 2-0 Cougar lead.
The Shockers answered in the top of the third.
Trey Vickers led off with a single and with one out,
Alec Bohm doubled to right-center to move Vickers to third.
Gunnar Troutwine's groundout scored Vickers to cut the lead to 2-1.
Greyson Jenista doubled to right-center and
Dayton Dugas followed with a home run to left field to put the Shockers up 4-2.
The Cougars used a leadoff walk and home run to tie the score at four in the bottom of the third.
With one out in the fourth,
Travis Young reached second on a Cougar error and he scored on a two-out single from
Luke Ritter for a 5-4 Shocker lead.
After a leadoff walk in the sixth, Lockhart's one-out double scored the pinch runner to tie the game at five.
Padgett's walk off home run in the seventh gave the Cougars the 6-5 win.
The Shockers and Cougars wrap up the series on Sun., April 22 with game two of the doubleheader.
