Shockers Come Back for 10-7 Win At OSU

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 20 Wichita State came back from a five-run deficit in the final two innings to defeat Oklahoma State 10-7 on Tuesday evening.
 
Gunnar Troutwine had the game winning three-run home run in the ninth and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI, a home run and a double.
 
Josh DeBacker went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a double, while Greyson Jenista went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
 
Reliever Cody Tyler earned the win. He pitched a shutout eighth inning with two strikeouts. Chandler Sanburn picked up his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
 
The Cowboys got on the board in the first. Andrew Rosa led off with a walk, Matt Kroon singled and Colin Simpson walked to load the bases. With one out, Rosa scored on Michael Neustifter's sacrifice fly to give OSU an early 1-0 lead.
 
OSU added to the lead in the third. Simpson walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a wild pitch. He stole third and scored on a Shocker error to put the Cowboys up 2-0.
 
The Shockers tied it in the fourth. With one out, Gunnar Troutwine walked and moved to third on a single by Trey Vickers. Mason O'Brien's sacrifice fly scored Troutwine and after Dayton Dugas walked, Josh DeBacker doubled off the wall in right-center to score Vickers to tie the game at two.
 
Kroon's solo home run in the fifth put the Cowboys back up 3-2.
 
Christian Funk led off the sixth with a solo home run and the Cowboys added another run on a double by Trevor Boone and single from Jake Taylor for a 5-2 lead.
 
The Cowboys added two unearned runs in the seventh to push the lead to 7-2.
 
The Shockers answered in the eighth. Jordan Boyer and Luke Ritter led off with walks and Greyson Jenista followed with a double to right-center to score Boyer. Ritter and Jenista came home on a Cowboy error to cut the lead to 7-5.
 
With one out in the ninth, DeBacker walked and with two outs, Ritter singled to move DeBacker to third. Jenista followed with a single to right-center to score DeBacker to cut the lead to 7-6. Alec Bohm followed with a single to score Ritter and tie the game at seven. Troutwine's three-run home run put the Shockers in front 10-7.
 
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., April 13 when they host UConn at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
