AUSTIN, Texas – Junior All-American
Jared Belardo took second in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump on the third day of the Texas Relays.
Belardo equaled his outdoor personal best in the long jump finishing second with a mark of 7.73m/25-4.5, his jump moved him into a tie for 10th furthest in the nation as well as No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference. In the triple jump Belardo finished fifth in Section B with a mark of 15.62m/51-3.
Aaron True was the lone Shocker competing in Section A of the javelin, the junior finished seventh with a throw of 69.17m/226-1.
On the women's side,
Carlea Miles finished sixth in Section A of the javelin with a throw of 47.68m/156-5, while
Tyra Bickham finished 10th in the Section B of the women's shot put with a mark of (13.59m/44-7).
The 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays concludes tomorrow, two Shockers will be competing. Bickham throws the discus in Section A at 1:30 p.m., while
Kelsey Slawson competes in Section A of the women's shot put at 4 p.m.
In California
Shockers had five student-athletes travel to the west coast to run at the San Francisco Distance Carnival and the Stanford Invitational.
Gage Garcia and
Pedro Montoya each set personal best in the men's 10,000m at the San Francisco Distance Carnival. Montoya led finishing second in section three and 44th overall with a time of 31.11.35, while Garcia placed 22nd in section two and 59th overall with a time of 31:39.50.
Competing at the Stanford Invitational,
Zack Penrod placed eighth in section two of the men's 1,500m with a time of 3:48.89.
Also running at the Stanford Invitational was freshman runner
Winny Koskei, she finished 21st in section two of the 10,000m with a time of 34:47.00. Competing unattached,
Rebekah Topham placed 10th in section two of the 5,000m with a time of 16:34.63.
