WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State University head volleyball coach
Chris Lamb announced the Shockers have added seven high school standouts on the second day of the early signing period Thursday, Nov. 15.
Nicole Anderson, an outside/opposite hitter from Richardson, Texas;
Arianna Arjomand, a libero/defensive specialist from Orlando, Fla.;
Skylar Goering, an outside hitter from Wichita, Kan.;
Shea Lauria, a libero/defensive specialist from Colgate, Wis.;
Lily Liekweg, a libero/defensive specialist from Janesville, Iowa,;
Kayce Litzau, a setter from Greendale, Wis. and
Sophia Rohling, an opposite hitter from Thayer, Kan., will continue their education and play volleyball for the Shockers beginning in the fall of 2019.

High School: Was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for head coach Scott Sandel at Plano East Senior High School…Was selected as a team captain as a senior…Was a District 6-6A All-District Honorable Mention Selection in 2016…

Personal: Daughter of Phil and Gayle Anderson…Plans to major in biomedical engineering at Wichita State.
Coach Lamb on Anderson: "We need Nicole to be the volleyball player on the team. We need her to have veteran IQ and stability out there (volleyball court), and do everything – passing, digging, attacking from both ends and back row attacking. I want to put the World on her shoulders and watch her handle it. She can be a very, very busy four-year player at Wichita State."

Coach Lamb on Arjomand: "Arianna has a lot of experience, having played at a high level all through youth volleyball. Her volleyball IQ and skills are what jumped out at me. She will be able to make an impact early at Wichita State."

High School: Was a four-year letterwinner and starter for head coach Teri Larson at Maize South High School…Team captain as a senior…Second team all-state selection as a senior…Three-time second team all-league honoree…Garnered Derby Tournament MVP accolades as a senior…Named all-conference honorable mention as a freshman…Hit .421 with 382 kills and tallied 252 digs as a senior…Her team went 37-9 in 2018…

Personal: Daughter of Ross and Tara Goering…Her mother, Tara, played volleyball at Wichita State from 1991-93…Plans to major in business at WSU.
Coach Lamb on Goering: "I'm super happy Skylar is coming to Wichita State. I've watched her develop as a young player, being from Wichita. I feel like Skylar's best volleyball is way out in front of her. She is talented, and I can see her working herself into a role on either pin."
Shea Lauria | 5-5 | Libero/Defensive Specialist
Colgate, Wis. | Brookfield East
High School: Was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for head coach Ansaya Hubbard at Brookfield East High School…Compiled 687 digs, 32 kills, 78 assists and 52 aces as a senior…For her high school career, she tallied 1,005 digs, 47 kills, 122 assists and 67 aces…Named team MVP in 2018…As a team captain in 2015, she helped lead her team to its first conference championship in school history…Her 2016 and 2017 teams both claimed conference titles…Named an AVCA Phenom in 2017…

Coach Lamb on Lauria: "Shea impressed us in camp with her all-around energy and enthusiasm. She's someone who just can't wait to get in the gym every day and be a part of the team. I think she's underrated at her position, and she'll make a mark here in the future."
Lily Liekweg | 5-5 | Libero/Defensive Specialist
Janesville, Iowa | Janesville
High School: Was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for head coach Shelly Sorensen at Janesville High School…As a senior, compiled 465 digs and 3.88 digs per set to go along with 51 assists and a .927 serving percentage…In her high school career, tallied 1,323 digs and 134 assists with a .944 serving percentage…Second team all-state in 2017 and third team all-state in 2016…First team all-conference and All-Conference Elite Team as a senior…Two-time all-district honoree…Selected to the Senior All-Star Game in 2018…Was an all-conference second team selection in 2017 and an honorable mention all-conference honoree in 2016…Helped her team to state championships from 2015-2018…Also played softball and basketball, and ran track…

Coach Lamb on Liekweg: "Lily is as good of an athlete at her position as we've ever recruited. The sky's the limit for Lily. She is absolutely the athlete that everybody is hoping to find at the position. She is loaded with upside."
Kayce Litzau | 6-0 | Setter

High School: Was a four-year letterwinner and starter, and three-year team captain for head coach Kelly Schmidt at Greendale High School…AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and first team all-state honoree as a senior…Player of the Year as a senior…Second team all-state accolades as a junior…All-state honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore…Three-time first team all-conference and Woodland West selection…Second Team Woodland West as a freshman…Posted 752 assists, 289 digs, 242 kills, 85 aces and 42 blocks as a senior…In her career, had 2,635 assists, 828 kills, 753 digs, 241 aces and 148 blocks…Helped her team advance to state all four years of her high school career after the team had not advanced to state the previous 36 years…
Club: Played for the Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club since she was nine years old. In 2017, the team placed third at AAU Nationals…
Personal: Daughter of Steve and Kathy Litzau…Her mother, Kathy, played volleyball at Notre Dame and her sister, Lauren, currently plays volleyball at Minnesota…Plans to major in psychology at Wichita State.
Coach Lamb on Litzau: "Kayce has so much energy, enthusiasm and hustle. She just reminds me of (former Shocker) Katie Reilly, who had the best motor in perhaps Shocker history. I can't wait to train and develop her as a setter."
Sophia Rohling | 6-3 | Opposite Hitter
Thayer, Kan. | Neodesha
High School: Four-year letterwinner and starter, and two-year team captain for head coach Jodi Stover at Neodesha High School…Named second team all-state as a senior…Was also a four-year first team all-conference honoree…Named team MVP as a sophomore, junior and senior…Compiled 359 kills, 204 assists, 36 block solos and 22 block assists her senior year…In her career, posted 1,116 kills, 698 assists and 251 blocks…First team Kansas Volleyball All-Academic Team honoree in 2016-17 and Kansas Volleyball All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2017-18…Her team was the 2018 Tri-Valley League Co-Champions and the 2015 Substate Champions…Was also a three-year letterwinner in basketball and was named first team all-league and honorable mention all-state as a junior…Was the Kansas Class 3A State High Jump Champion as a junior and set the school high jump record (5 feet, 6 inches) as a junior…

Coach Lamb on Rohling: "Sophia is a small-town talent whose skills have improved at a very fast rate, lately. Her physical presence and power should allow us to do a lot with her sooner than we originally thought. We're also going to be training her in several spots, as well."
