AUSTIN, Texas - The Wichita State men's golf team wrapped up its 2016-17 season with a 13th place finish at the NCAA Regional tournament held at the University of Texas Golf Club with Grant Bennett and Yannik Emmert finishing in the top-50 individually.

Bennett led the Shockers through all three days, eventually finishing tied for 35th behind a three round score of 214, good for 7-over par. The senior from Prosper, Texas, shot a 3-over 74 in the final round to bring an end to his career as a Shocker. 

Emmert finished a stroke behind with 221, 8-over par, through the three rounds. Emmert finished tied for 38th individually after carding his best score of the tournament, a 1-under 70, in the final round. 

Jacob Bishop also carded his best score of the tournament on day three to finish tied for 54th. Bishop shot a 2-over 73 to finish at 224, only three strokes behind Emmert and four behind Bennett.

Conrad Walcher finished tied for 63rd behind a third round score of 73, good for 2-over par. Walcher ended the tournament at 228 overall, good for 15-over par.

Gage Ihrig finished two strokes behind Walcher on 230 after carding a 4-over 75 in round three. Ihrig finished tied for 66th individually with all five Shockers finishing within 10 strokes of each other.

As a team the Shockers finished in 13th place after carding 887 as a team through the three-day regional event. 

Ranked No. 3 nationally, Oklahoma State used a third round team score of 270 to edge out regional host Texas for first position. The Cowboys shot 839, good for 13-under par, through the three days with the Longhorns finishing only two strokes behind on 841 and 11-under par. Iowa State shot the best team round of the regional on day three to claim third position. The Cyclones shot 263 in round three to finish with 845 with Ole Miss in fourth with 854 and Arizona State claiming the final team spot in the NCAA Championship after finishing in fifth with 859.
