Shockers Compete at Red Raider Shootout

WICHITA, Kan.  -- 
Wichita State will compete against host Texas Tech, Baylor, and Nebraska in the Red Raider Shootout Friday, April 28, at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track & Field Stadium. 

The meet in Lubbock, Texas, is set to start with the women's javelin at 2 p.m. The running events begin with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 6 p.m. Sixty-one Shockers will compete in the event.

Nebraska is ranked No. 1 and Texas Tech is No. 3 in this week's Track & Field News Dual Meet Rankings. In this week's USTFCCCA Men's Rankings, Texas Tech is No. 4, Baylor is No. 10 and Nebraska is No. 19.

On the women's side, the Huskers are No. 6 in the latest dual-meet ranking, while No. 13 Baylor, No. 20 Texas Tech and No. 25 Wichita State are also ranked. Baylor is 12th in the USTFCCCA Rankings.

After last week's competition at the University of Okjlahoma, the Shockers have 27 marks ranked in the Top 43 of the West, and Top 100 overall in the NCAA. Fifteen women and 12 men have ranked marks.

Hunter Veith still leads the Shockers with the No. 7 mark in the West Decathlon and No. 9 overall with 7,610 points, while Nikki Larch-Miller has the top women's mark with 5,551 points in the Heptathlon, which ranks No. 8 in the West and No. 13 overall.

Last week, WSU set four new all-time Top 10 WSU marks and had 12 new personal bests.
