LEMONT, Ill. - The Wichita State men's golf team leads the Missouri Valley Conference Championship field through two rounds with Grant Bennett tied for first and three other Shockers in the top-10 individual leaderboard as they seek their 21st conference title and 15th in the past 19 seasons. 

Bennett, last season's MVC Player of the Year, carded a 1-over 73 and even-par 72 to finish day one with 145 overall.

Yannik Emmert is in fifth place after carding a 3-over 75 in round one and even-par 72 through the first two rounds. Emmert finished the day with 147 overall.

Jacob Bishop is tied for 7th after carding his best score in round one. Bishop shot a 1-over 73 through the first 18 holes before carding a 4-over 76 in round two to finish the day with 149 overall.

Conrad Walcher carded a 6-over 78 in the first round followed by an even-par 72 to end the day tied for 10th. Walcher finished the two rounds with 150 overall.

Gage Ihrig rounded out the five-man Shocker lineup tied for 21st overall. Ihrig carded a 3-over 75 in round one and 7-over 79 in round two to end the day with 154. 

Wichita State leads the field overall after carding team scores of 296 and 292 through the opening rounds of golf to sit at 588 with 18 holes left to play. Illinois State is a stroke behind the Shockers after carding a tournament-best 290 in round one before carding 299 in round two to finish with 589. Northern Iowa is 10 strokes behind in third behind scores of 295 and 304 to end the day at 599. 

The final round of the two-day tournament will wrap up Wichita State's Missouri Valley Conference stint tomorrow with the Shockers, Illinois State and Northern Iowa paired together with play beginning at 8:40 a.m. CT.
