Two Shockers Earn All-American Honors

COLLEGE STATION, Texas  --  Nikki Larch-Miller and Breanne Borman earned Second-Team All-American honors Friday in the Pentathlon, while Hunter Veith sits in ninth after the first day of the Heptathlon at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Larch-Miller finished 11th with 4,088 points in the Pentathlon while Borman was 16th with 3,705 points in the five events after competition Friday. The top eight finishers in the multi-events are first team All-Americans and the second eight are named second-team All-Americans.

Veith sits in ninth-place after four events of the Heptathlon Friday with 3,218 points. He opened the day with an eighth-place finish in the 60 meters in a time of 7.00. His long jump mark of 7.55m/24-9.25 was good enough for fourth while his shot put (12.41m/40-8.75 was 13th in the competition. The final event of the day was the high jump (1.95m/6-4.75) where he finished ninth. He also competed in the open long jump today and fouled his first attempt before foregoing his final two jumps.

The Heptathlon continues on Saturday at 2 p.m., with the 60 meter hurdles and pole vault, and ends with the 1,000 meters at approximately 3:45.

Larch-Miller's day opened with a fourth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.26). She then was 12th in the high jump (1.63m/5-4.25), 13th in the shot put (11.90m/39-0.5) and 14th in the long jump (5.64m/18-6). In the day's final event, she was seventh in the 800 meters in a time of 2:17.93.

Borman was 15th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.78), 13th in the high jump (1.60m/5-3), fourth in the shot put (12.72m/41-8.75) and 16th in the long jump (5.33m/17-6). She finished her last Pentathlon event of the day with a 15th-place in the 800 meters (2:33.25).

Borman, who earned All-American honors a year ago at the 2016 NCAA Championship with a 12th-place finish in the Pentathlon, won the event at the 2017 MVC Indoor Championship in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Nikki Larch-Miller earned All-American honors at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championship with an eighth-place finish in the Outdoor Heptathlon.

Veith is making his first NCAA Championship appearance, and won the MVC Heptathlon at the 2017 Indoor Championship.
