OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Wichita State men's golf team sits in ninth through two rounds of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate with
Conrad Walcher and
Jacob Bishop finishing the opening two rounds in the top 30 individually.
Walcher leads the Shockers after carding 75 and an even-par 72 in the two rounds, good for 147 overall and tied for 24th. Bishop is a stroke behind at 148 after shooting 76 and 72 and is tied for 28th.
Kale Reynolds is tied for 45th after carding 75 and 76 in each round while
Gage Ihrig is tied for 52nd. Ihrig struggled on the first 18, carding 80, before shooting even-par in round two to finish on 152, a stroke behind Reynolds.
Erik Angesten rounds out the five-man Shocker lineup, finishing 68th through the two rounds. Angesten shot 83 and 79, good for 162 overall.
As a team the Shockers finished round one in 11th position after carding 306, but improved dramatically to move up to ninth position with a second round score of 292. Grand Canyon leads the field after carding 572 through the two rounds while tournament hosts UMKC is second with 574. The Roos shot the tournament's best team score in round one with 282. South Dakota rounds out the top three with 577.
Day two will wrap up the tournament tomorrow with tee times beginning around 8:30 a.m. for the Shockers. Live scoring will continue to be available on GolfStat.com.
