HARLINGEN, Texas - Junior men's tennis student-athlete
Haru Inoue wrapped up play in the main draw at the USA F34 event Wednesday at the Harlingen Country Club.

Former UVA tennis player Ryan Shane faced Inoue early Wednesday in the first round of main draw action. Inoue, who went 2-0 in qualifying play, was defeated by the former NCAA singles champion in straight sets. Ryan Shane took the first set from Inoue,who ranks No. 58 in the ITA rankings, 6-0.

After winning the first point in the second set, Inoue fell behind to Shane and eventually dropped the set to the two-time All-American, 6-2.

Inoue finished the week 2-1 at the futures event, with wins over Texas A&M junior Kevin Lam 6-1, 6-0 and Jonathan Chang, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Chang ranks No. 1456 in ITF while Inoue ranks No. 1116.

Murkel Dellien and junior
Andrea Caligiana competed in the event earlier this week. Dellien went 1-1, with a win over Crisanto Ramirez, 6-1, 6-1 before falling to Chang, 6-3, 7-6(4). Caligiana took on No. 1877 ranked Chris Haworth, who played collegiately at Oklahoma State, and lost 6-0, 6-3.

WSU will next be in action with four Shockers traveling to the ITA Central Regional starting Oct. 18 in Minneapolis, Minn.
