Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – The women's tennis team won its 80th consecutive Missouri Valley Conference dual, defeating Missouri State 7-0 at Wichita Country Club Thursday afternoon.

The Shockers won the doubles point with the duos of Gabriela Porubin/Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco/Giulia Guidetti earning 6-0 wins. Ting-Ya Hsu and Tanaporn Thongsing were down 4-2 in their match, but went unfinished once WSU picked up the point.

In singles play, Guidetti – ranked No. 93 in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings – notched the first singles win of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of MSU's Anelisse Torrico in the top singles slot. Porubin and Thongsing won their matches shortly afterwards to clinch the victory for the Shockers. Freshmen newcomers Bizhukova and Bellucco won their first singles matches since joining the team.

"It was a complete effort to start the season," said head coach Colin Foster. "To have a freshman at each doubles position is rare, and we will rely on the upperclassmen to continue to lead them as they have been doing thus far. This upcoming weekend is a great opportunity to build off today's performance as well as the work the ladies have been putting in during the early season."

The win also marks WSU's 34^th consecutive home dual win. The Shockers' last home loss was on Feb. 25, 2013, when the Shockers lost to Purdue 1-6 at Crestview Country Club.

The Shockers will travel to Stillwater, Okla. to play in the ITA Kick-Off weekend on Jan. 28-29. The Shockers will play TCU on Saturday, and the winner/loser of Oklahoma State vs. Cornell, depending on Saturday's results. The winner of each of the 15 Regional sites, plus host school Yale, will advance to the National Team Indoors Championships next month.
