WICHITA, Kan.  --
Wichita State hosts the annual Shocker Prelude, Wednesday, and the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular on Thursday, at the Heskett Center Indoor Track and Field Facility.

On Wednesday, the Shocker Prelude gets underway with the field events at noon and the running events at 4:30 p.m., as Emporia St, Oklahoma Baptist, Angelo St and Friends University compete against the Shockers.  WSU's list of athletes competing on Wednesday will consist of student-athletes that are not on the 26-person roster for the Triangular.

On Thursday, the Big Three compete  --  Wichita State, Kansas State and Kansas -- in the third-annual event that rotates to each campus. WSU will be hosting the event for the first time in the rotation. The meet will be televised by WSUtv on Cox Cable Channel 13 and begins at noon with the field events and at 5 p.m. with the running events.

A year ago, Wichita State's men's and women's track and field teams finished second and third, respectively, at the Triangular at KU's Anschutz Pavilion. WSU's men finished second with 110 points behind KU's 126 while KSU was third with 109 points. Kansas also won the women's team event with 128 points to Kansas State's 125. WSU was third with 93 points.

The meet is scored based on the top-two finishers in each event from each school.

The Shockers have had organized indoor competition three times this season, including the Shocker Multi on Dec. 2, the Intrasquad meet on Dec. 9 and the Bill Easton Classic on Jan. 6.

The Shocker Multi produced 17 personal bests and three Shocker Top 10 marks. The Intrasquad meet resulted in 24 personal bests and most recently, the Easton Classic had Shockers claim 13 personal bests and two Top 10 marks.

Transfer Michael Wells claimed the third-best 60 meter time in Shocker history with a 6.85 at the Easton Classic, while newcomer Denvoir Griffin recorded the eighth-best 60 meter time at 6.89, which was also his personal best.
