Box Score (PDF)CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-1 win over Wichita State in game three of the series.
Chase Rader went 1-for-3 with a home run, while
Gunnar Troutwine,
Alec Bohm and
Trey Vickers each had a hit.
Starter
Clayton McGinness went 7.1 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
The Salukis struck first in the bottom of the third. Ryan Sabo singled with one out and scored on a triple to left field by Will Farmer to give SIU a 1-0 lead.
Chase Rader's solo home run in the top of the eighth tied the score at one.
The Salukis won the game in the eighth. Sabo led off with a single and with one out Connor Kopach walked. Dyllin Mucha's single loaded the bases and Greg Lamberts's sacrifice fly and a Shocker error scored two runs for the Salukis. Another run came home on a double by Logan Blackfan for the final 4-1 score.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., May 3 at Kansas State at 6:30 p.m.
