Box Score (PDF)MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State scored four runs in the first inning on the way to a 9-5 win over Wichita State.
Trey Vickers went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a home run.
Starter
Chandler Sanburn went four innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
The Shockers wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first.
Dayton Dugas was hit by a pitch and
Greyson Jenista and
Luke Ritter followed with singles to load the bases.
Alec Bohm was hit by a pitch to drive in Dugas and Jenista scored on a double play to put the Shocks up 2-0.
The Wildcats answered in the bottom of the first. They used four hits, a hit batsmen and an error to score four runs and take a 4-2 lead.
WSU cut into the lead with a solo home run by
Trey Vickers in the top of the fifth to pull the Shocks within 4-3.
KSU broke it open with four runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh to increase the lead to 9-3.
Gunnar Troutwine's RBI single added a run for the Shockers in the eighth and a Wildcat error gave a run to WSU in the ninth.
The Shockers and Wildcats square off in Wichita on Wed., May 4 at 6:30 p.m.
