Photo GalleryWICHITA, Kan. – Kansas State scored four runs in the first three innings and held on to defeat Wichita State 5-2 on Wednesday evening at Eck Stadium.
Zach Reding went 2-for-3 with two doubles, while
Luke Ritter and
Trey Vickers each went 2-for-4.
Starter
Robby Evans went two innings and gave up two runs on two hits with two walks and no strikeouts.
Kansas State struck first in the top of the second. Tyler Wolfe walked with one out and moved to third on a single from Cade Bunnell. Quintin Crandall's sacrifice bunt scored Wolfe and Bunnell scored on Michael Smith's single for a 2-0 Wildcat lead.
The Wildcats added to the lead in the third. Josh Rolette led off with a walk and moved to third on a double from Tyler Moore. Both runners scored on a Shocker error for a 4-0 KSU lead.
The Shockers got on the board in the bottom of the third.
Luke Ritter led off with a single and moved to third on a double by
Alec Bohm. He scored on a sacrifice fly by
Gunnar Troutwine to cut the lead to 4-1.
Zach Reding led off the seventh with a double and pinch runner
Bret Fehr scored on a single by
Trey Vickers to pull WSU within 4-2.
KSU added one in the ninth for the final 5-2 score.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., May 6 against Indiana State at Eck Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
