Scouting Evansville
The Purple Aces are 15-12 overall and have wins over USC Upstate, Monmouth, Belmont, Northern Illinois three times, UT Martin, Central Connecticut State, Southern Indiana, Eastern Kentucky twice, SIU Edwardsville, and Florida Gulf Coast three times. Losses have come against South Alabama three times, Wofford, Liberty twice, Central Connecticut State, Indiana, SIU Edwardsville, Kent State, Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky. As a team, they are hitting .293 with a 4.29 team ERA and a .971 fielding percentage. They are led offensively by Trey Hair who is hitting .408 with 13 doubles, four home runs and 22 RBI. UE is led by head coach Wes Carroll.

Series History vs. the Purple Aces
Wichita State leads the overall series with Evansville 53-27. The Shockers lead the series in Evansville 22-12. The Shockers haven't won a series in Evansville since 2010. Head Coach Todd Butler is 5-2 in his career against UE.  

Last Meeting vs. UE
The last meeting between the two teams was a three-game series May 8-10, 2015 in Wichita. The Shockers swept the series by scores of 4-3, 10-7 and 10-0. Mikel Mucha went 6-for-11 in the series with four RBI. John Hayes, Jeb Bargfeldt and Chase Williams each earned a win.

Lungwitz Named MVC Pitcher of the Week
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Connor Lungwitz has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 28-April 3.
Lungwitz, a freshman right-hander from Wichita, Kan., led the Shockers to a midweek win over Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday. He made his first career start and pitched six shutout innings and allowed just two singles with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
He had at least one strikeout in every inning and struck out five-straight at one point. He is the first freshman to strike out 10 or more in their first career start since Steve Uhlmansiek struck out 10 against Hawaii-Hilo in 2003.
He is the first Shocker pitcher to strike out five-straight since Tobin Mateychick did it against North Dakota in 2013.
It is the first MVC Pitcher of the Week honor for Lungwitz.
 
MVC Play Opens This Weekend
The Shockers open Valley play this weekend with Evansville.  Since 1979, Wichita State is 95-28 during the first series of Valley play.  In 37 seasons, WSU has lost just six Valley opening series and has also split three.  The Shockers went 0-2 against Illinois State in 1984, 1-3 against Bradley in both 1986 and 1987, 1-2 against Evansville in 2005, 1-2 against Southern Illinois in 2006 and 1-2 against Missouri State in 2011.  WSU split with Indiana State (2-2) in both 1988 and 1989 and split with Missouri State (1-1) in 1991. The Shockers have met Evansville for their first Valley series three times. The Shocks went 3-1 against the Purple Aces in Wichita in 1995, 3-1 in Evansville in 2002, and 1-2 in Wichita in 2005.

Four Homers
Wichita State hit four home runs in a 15-8 win over Oral Roberts on April 5. Chase Rader, Gunnar Troutwine, Ryan Tinkham and Dayton Dugas all homered against the Golden Eagles. It was the first time the Shockers hit four or more home runs in a game since they hit four on May 19, 2011. Kevin Hall, Chris O'Brien, Johnny Coy and Preston Springer all homered agains the Braves.

Complete Game for Schwanke
Junior pitcher Willie Schwanke threw his first career complete game on Friday night against No. 6 TCU. Schwanke threw nine strong innings and allowed just three runs on nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts. He is the first Shocker pitcher to throw a complete game this season.

Jenista Coming on Strong
Freshman Greyson Jenista has continued to improve this season. Over the last 15 games, he is 17-for-51 (.333) with 13 runs, one double, three home runs, 15 RBI and 11 walks. He is also 8-for-13 (.615) in those games with runners in scoring position.

Mucha Leading Off
After a rough stretch at the beginning of the season, senior outfielder Mikel Mucha has rebounded over the last 23 games. During that span, he is 30-for-73 (.411) with 17 runs, six doubles, nine RBI, 15 walks and four stolen bases.
