ST. LOUIS  --  Wichita State Track and Field Athletes Emilea Finley and Gavyn Yetter were named Missouri Valley Conference Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

Finley, who was named MVC Female Track Athlete of the Week, won the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:22.33 to help the women's team to the title at the Texas San Antonio Track and Field Invitational at Park West Saturday. The time was her personal best, beating her previous best by 52 seconds.

Yetter, who was named a Co-Female Field Athlete of the Week, won the Heptathlon at the Rice Shirley Crowe Multis with a career-best 5,447 points which also ranks fourth all-time at WSU. She won five-of-seven events, including the 100 meter hurdles (14.39), the shot put (41-5.25), 200 meters (25.28), the long jump (18-2.25) and the final event, the 800 meters (2:16.41). She was third in the high jump (5-3.25), and second (124-5) in the javelin. She also set career-bests in the 800 meters and the shot put.

Wichita State is next in action this weekend with a split squad at Arkansas and at Pitt State.
