Box Score (PDF)FULLERTON, Calif. – No. 23 Cal State Fullerton scored three runs in the first inning on the way to a 5-0 win over Wichita State in game two of a three-game series.
Willie Schwanke went seven innings and gave up five runs on eight hits with three walks and no strikeouts.
Tanner Kirk had the only hit for the Shockers.
Josh Vargas, the leadoff hitter for the Titans, hit a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the first. After a walk to Timmy Richards, Tanner Pinkston followed with a double to score Richards and Pinkston scored on an infield single from Scott Hurst for a quick 3-0 lead.
Tyler Stieb led off the second with a triple to right-center and scored on a single from Coby Kauhaahaa to increase the lead to 4-0.
The Titans added to their lead with a run in the fifth inning on two hits and a walk for a 5-0 lead.
The Shockers and Titans wrap up the series on Sun., March 13 at 3 p.m. Central time.
