Final Results

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Wichita State men's golf team finished tied for fifth place at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate behind Grant Bennett's first top 10 finish of the season. The Shockers carded 296-289-292 through the two days to finish at 877 and 13-over par. 
 
Grant Bennett started strong and never looked back, carding an even-par 72 and 2-under 70 through the first two rounds. Bennett continued his strong performance in the final 18, two bogies within the final five holes of the day just stopping him from finishing under par, instead giving Bennett 74 in round three. Bennett eventually finished tied for eighth individually at 216 and even-par for the tournament.
 
Conrad Walcher was next best for the Shockers, finishing tied for 17th with 219. Walcher carded 75 through the last 18 holes to claim his highest finish of the season.
 
After struggling through day one, Yannik Emmert improved rapidly in the final round to move up 26 spots to finish tied for 23rd. Emmert shot 76-76-70 through the three rounds to finish with 222, 6-over par.
 
Jacob Bishop also improved through the final day, carding 73 to finish at 224 overall, 8-over par. Bishop finishing just a stroke ahead of teammate Gage Ihrig who ended at 225 after carding 75 through the final 18. Ihrig finished tied for 36th and 9-over par.
 
Competing individually, Adrien Michellod carded his best score of the tournament in the final round. Michellod shot 74 to finish with 237, 24-over par and tied for 67th place.

Grand Canyon University just nosed out Kansas State for top honors finishing one stroke clear with 868. Kansas State finished second with 869 with Missouri - Kansas City back in third with 872. 
 
The Shockers now look to their final tournament of the fall 2016 season in Las Cruces, N.M. Held at the New Mexico State University Golf Course, the Herb Wimberley Invitational will be held Monday, Oct. 17 through Tuesday, Oct. 18.
