CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Chris Peters led Wichita State's contingent of men's multi-athletes with a fifth-place finish Saturday in the conclusion of the Heptathlon at the UNI/Jerret Invitational.
On Saturday, the men completed the Heptathlon with the 60 meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000 meters.
Peters earned 5,182 points to finish fifth, just ahead of teammate
Ben Johnson's 5,100 points.
Tyler Knight was ninth with 4,727 points,
Kyle Troxler was 10th with 4,593 points,
Kaden Griffin was 11th with 4,580 points,
Seth Buck was 12th with 4,572 points and
John Nicholas was 13th with 4,474 points.
Peters was second in the pole vault with a height of 16-8.75, while he was fifth in the 10,000 meters, the competition's final event, with a time of 2:54.72. Griffin won the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:49.11.
Johnson was WSU's highest finisher at fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.53.
Tyler Knight was sixth in 8.54, while Peters was 10th in 8.97.
The men's Heptathletes completed four events Friday with Peters leading the Shocker contingent in sixth-place with 2,859 points. He ran a 7.45 in the 60 meter hurdles, long jumped 21-3.5, high jumped 6-1 and threw the shot put 42-9. After the first day, Griffin was ninth with 2,732 points, Troxler was 11th with 2,650 points, Nicholas was 12th with 2,615 points, Knight was 14th with 2,535 points and Buck was 15th with 2,497 points.
Wisconsin's Zach Ziemek won the event with 5,801 points to lead the Badgers, who took the top four spots.
