WICHITA, Kan. – Former Wichita State baseball player Dusty Coleman has been called up by the Kansas City Royals and will be in uniform tonight against the Minnesota Twins.
Coleman, who was currently playing for the class AAA Omaha Storm Chasers in the Kansas City Royals organization, was an infielder for the Shockers from 2007-08. While at WSU, he played in 123 games and hit .291 with 85 runs, 128 hits, 29 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, 90 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
This season for the Storm Chasers, Coleman has played in 43 games and is hitting .280 with 17 runs, 42 hits, eight doubles, one triples, five home runs, 17 RBI and three stolen bases. In 26 games for class AA Northwest Arkansas, he hit .341 with 12 runs, 31 hits, nine doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI and four stolen bases.
Coleman will be the 37th Shocker to play in the Major Leagues.
