The Levitt Family (At-Large)

6/23/2010 4:20:00 PM

The Levitt Family, long-time residents of the city of Wichita, will long be remembered by the citizens of Wichita as the originators and owners of very fashionable stores; however it is significant to WSU and its athletic program to pay tribute to this prominent family for their untiring efforts, interest and enthusiasm to assist in the continued growth of the total athletic program. Through their devotion to community involvement, the present fieldhouse (first "roundhouse" built in the nation), where SHOCKER basketball is played, became a reality in December, 1955, via the encouragement and leadership of this family, particularly Henry Levitt, after whom the arena was posthumously honored in 1969. Charter Inductee, 1979.
